Forbes: Inside The Founder’s Villa At Rosewood Mayakoba That You Can Now Rent For $20,000 Per Night
A second home has proven to be an incredibly valuable asset during the pandemic. But with so many options to choose from, Rosewood Mayakoba in Riviera Maya, Mexico is making it easy to enjoy all the perks of residential living without the price tag (or at least test out the product before you make a final commitment).
“The pandemic caused many people to reevaluate their lifestyles and seek out a new way of living that would promote their everyday happiness,” says Kappner Clark, Chief Marketing Officer at RLH Properties, the owner of Mayakoba. “This change in priorities sparked a major second-home buying spree in Mexico, with a slew of buyers from the US and other parts of Mexico coming to Mayakoba for its beach access, PGA golf course and 25 onsite restaurants offering a variety of cuisines. We primarily saw an uptick this past year in sales inquiries from markets like NYC, Miami, Texas, and Mexico City because of how quick their direct flights to the Riviera Maya are.”
Mayakoba is a 620-acre enclave that houses a number of resorts, golf clubs, and restaurants, however Rosewood is the pinnacle of luxury within the development. Residential offerings in the region simply don’t get better than Rosewood Residences.
Rosewood Residences has officially unveiled its chic, brand-new The Founder’s Villa. The villa is one of five beachfront residences at Rosewood Mayakoba and joins 33 Rosewood-branded lagoon residences, which start at $3.6 million. The Founder’s Villa is the first beachfront residence to be completed within the collection and both vacationers or prospective buyers can now stay in the chic space for $20,000 per night.
The Founder’s Villa also has several unique perks that other Rosewood Residences do not, such as a personal golf cart, dedicated Rosewood staff, access to all private beach clubs within Mayakoba, full suite of Rosewood Mayakoba services and amenities. These include daily housekeeping and turndown service, access to the spa and award-winning restaurants, butler program, and more.
This 16,300-square-foot private residence is like your own private hotel. Developed by RLH Properties, the villa reflects quintessential Mexican architecture with locally sourced materials (lava stone, barro clay, and natural fibers) that showcase exceptional Mexican craftsmanship. The beachfront villa overlooks the Caribbean Sea and opens directly onto the beach. The two-story home has breezy terraces that extend from nearly every room, and the first floor opens onto the pool deck, which also features a 92-foot infinity-edge pool spanning the width of the villa.
The home has six bedrooms and seven bathrooms. Perfect for entertaining and hosting guests, each suite is very private and spacious, with en-suite bathrooms, walk-in closets, and spa-like baths. There is also a chef’s grade kitchen, media room, and office. At the center of the home is a lush courtyard, which further enhances the emphasis on indoor-outdoor living.
“The Founder’s Villa offers the privacy and exclusivity of a grandiose beachfront residence, yet it was intuitively designed and curated to reflect how a family would use their own home,” says Daniel Scott, regional Vice President and managing director at Rosewood Mayakoba. “The villa features expansive, sweeping spaces and plenty of room for a multi-generational family stay, but also cozy spaces for small gatherings and kid-friendly nooks to play games. The intimacy of the spaces provides a distinctive home-away-from-home energy – where guests are treated to pristine private accommodations as well as comfortable spots to simply spend time together, from cocktails by the beachfront fire pit to a cozy movie night with candy and popcorn in the media room.”
Prospective buyers, however, must move fast, as there are just a select number of residences left on the beach and near the lagoon.
Hotel-branded residences are nothing new, but they are certainly on the rise, as prospective buyers hope to purchase turnkey spaces that come with five-star hotel amenities, room service, housekeeping, and concierge services. For example, Baccarat Residences recently announced its move to Miami, while Mandarin Oriental announced its first-ever residences in New York City. Rosewood also has residential offerings at many of its properties around the world, from China to New York and beyond.
