RLH Properties is named one of the most responsible companies in the country

RLH Properties, a lider in acquiring, developing, and managing luxury and ultra-luxury hotel assets such as Mayakoba in the Riviera Maya and Mandarina in the Riviera Nayarit, is proud to announce its inclusion in Expansión’s prestigious 2024 Ranking of Responsible Companies.

This ranking evaluates organizations in three categories:

  • Environmental indicators includes water and energy use, waste generation, and greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Social factors assess diversity, gender equity, employment practices, health and safety, and social responsibility.
  • Corporate Governance examines ethics codes, anti-corruption policies, and board diversity.

 

RLH Properties’ portfolio includes some of the most iconic properties in the tourism sector, boasting significant natural capital such as pristine beaches, lush rainforest, and diverse ecosystems. The company works intensively on conservation, continuous improvement of its environmental performance, and contributing to the communities where it operates.

In 2023, RLH Properties achieved significant milestones in all three areas. In the environmental category, all beach properties earned Preferred by Nature’s Sustainable Tourism Activities Certificate, and Mayakoba renewed its Environmental Quality Certification at Environmental Performance Level 2. Additionally, through effective waste management, they reduced landfill waste by 50% to 36% and reused 65% of organic waste.

In terms of social initiatives, they include the “RLH Al Rescate” program, which recovered 4 tons of food for vulnerable populations, equivalent to more than 13,000 meals, and prevented 2.6 tons of CO2 emissions. Additionally, through the “La Suma de Todos” program—in which guests are invited to donate one dollar per night of stay, matched by RLH Properties—over 6.9 million pesos were raised for various civil associations with academic and environmental projects.

In governance, RLH Properties made a significant improvement in the IC500 Corporate Integrity ranking, achieving 94.1 points in 2023. Furthermore, all its hotels received recognition in the 2023 Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards.
